  • The Beauty of Fashion Jewelry

    By Michael Rares | May 7, 2008

    Fashion Jewelry has many forms
    Quality vs. price
You may be tempted to buy fashion jewelry at a very low price, sometimes even the dollar store has pieces that are cute, but be careful about the quality. No matter how inexpensive the piece is, it won’t give you a good value if it falls off halfway through the day. You don’t have to spend a fortune for good fashion jewelry, but you should choose pieces that are well made and will last a long time in your wardrobe. Even if the piece goes out of style, rest assured that it will be back “in” someday and then will be even more valuable since it may qualify as vintage. Read the rest of this article »

    Burberry The Beat-Attitude Meets Energy

    By Michael Rares | April 29, 2008

Perhaps more than any other fashion brand, Burberry has melded perfectly into the change. What changes are these? The change in culture, change in style, change in attitude: all of the changes which modern society has created through advancement and progress. Truly, Burberry represents what is cool, what was cool and what will be cool in the times to come. In what could be described as much a mood as a perfume, Burberry’s The Beat is all of the hip and knowing vogue of modern times. The Beat is just as much a feeling as it is a fragrance: as if Burberry has bottled the emotion and climate of the modern fashion lifestyle. Burberry’s The Beat is a screaming and shouting burst of energy, yet, in as sophisticated a manner as such an outburst could possibly be.

Gwen Stefani Dives into the World of Fragrance

    By Michael Rares | April 29, 2008

Lamb perfumeGwen Stefani has clearly defined herself by her unique talent and abilities on the music charts. She has also managed to translate her unique sense of style into her own clothing line called L.A.M.B which is an acronym she created that stands for Love, Angel, Music, Baby (she incorporates this into her song lyrics which helps solidify her brand as well). What else would possibly come next, but a new fragrance? Following in the footsteps of many other celebrity endorsed product brands including Jennifer Lopez, Stephani has made the jump into the cosmetics industry with the introduction of her new fragrance called “L”. It is suspected that this will be followed up with the other letters A, M and B, but at this point that remains to be seen. Read the rest of this article »

    Jean-Paul Gaultier-Designs that Shock/Scents that Surprise

    By Michael Rares | April 29, 2008

    History of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Career

Jean-Paul Gaultier is an unconventional designer from France. His fashion career began back in 1970 when noted fashion designer Pierre Cardin took a chance on this completely untrained, yet talented designer hiring him on as an assistant. In 1976 his first individual collection was released, but it was in 1981 that he began to display his true nature and what would now be considered his characteristic irreverent designs. Playing on themes such as gender confusion and using untraditional types, such as tattooed and pierced men or full figured woman, as models earned him both considerable criticism and growing popularity. He is particularly well known for designing the costumes for pop superstar Madonna’s Blond Ambition Tour where she sported a cone-shaped bra. Read the rest of this article »

    By Michael Rares | April 27, 2008

Perry Ellis Unlikely Fashion Designer to American Icon

Perry Ellis was an American Designer who was born in 1940 to an average middle class family. He went to college for business administration and later earned his Master’s degree in retailing from New York University in 1963. He started his career working in retail as a buyer and merchandiser. Although he could not even sketch a fashion drawing, his ability to understand market demand for fashion and deep understanding of how the whole industry operated led his employer at the time, the Vera Companies, to ask him to design a collection for them. Perry Ellis released his original Portfolio collection of women’s sportswear in 1976. His clean cut, casual style earned him acclaim from many women as he created the new classics they wanted for their wardrobes. Read the rest of this article »

    By Michael Rares | April 15, 2008

Beginning in the early 1920’s Guccio Gucci began infusing Italian style into his products (at that time primarily leather handbags and luggage). Over the years the company expanded their product line to include many Fashion accessories, including sunglasses, but they managed to keep the same sense of refined European style and commitment to quality in everything they made. The Gucci family retained primary control of the company until the 1980’s when it became publicly traded. The Gucci descendents remained involved with the company until the early part of this century, but even today the company’s commitment to quality and style is unwavering.
